It is common for most children to mix up their letters when learning to write. Through repetitive writing, this backwards problem usually fades away naturally. However, this is not the case for everyone. My eldest son, who is slightly dyslexic, was still occasionally making perfect mirrored images of words even after writing for many years. One of the best way I have found to remedy this problem is to give them a mnemonic trick or tool to remember the correct way to write a letter or number.

.

To help a children remember which way to write a "b" & "d" do the following":

Have them make a fist with fingers extended on the table . Tell them that they are making a bed with their hands. See the headboard and footboard of the bed? Tell them to imagine the word bed with the first hand being the "b" and the other hand the "d".
